Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 5 October 2026
These are our general terms for providing fire engineering services. They apply unless we agree different terms in writing, for example in a signed appointment or proposal.
Our services
MSC Fire Engineering (“MSC”, “we”, “us”) provides fire safety engineering consultancy. The scope of each project, including deliverables, programme and fee, is set out in our written proposal or appointment. Anything outside that scope is a variation and will be agreed in writing first.
Quotations and fees
Quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Fees are exclusive of VAT, which is added at the prevailing rate. Unless agreed otherwise, we invoice monthly or at agreed stages, and invoices are payable within 30 days. We may charge interest on late payments as permitted by law.
Client responsibilities
You agree to give us accurate and complete information, access and decisions in good time. We are not responsible for delays or errors caused by information that is late, incomplete or inaccurate.
Standard of care
We will carry out our services with reasonable skill and care, in line with the standards expected of a competent fire engineering consultancy.
Intellectual property and use of our work
We keep the copyright in our reports, drawings and models. Once we have been paid, you may use them for the project and purpose for which they were prepared. They should not be used for other projects, or relied on by anyone else, without our written agreement.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability in connection with a project is limited to the amount set out in our proposal or appointment and, if none is stated, the fees paid for that project. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Confidentiality and data
We keep your project information confidential unless disclosure is required by law or by a regulator. Personal information is handled as set out in our Privacy Policy.
Termination
Either party may end an engagement by giving written notice. You will pay for work carried out and costs incurred up to the date of termination.
General
These terms, together with our proposal or appointment, are the whole agreement between us on the services. They are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except that for projects in Northern Ireland the laws of Northern Ireland apply.
